By Allestree, Richard
Oxford: Printed at the Theater in Oxford, 1673. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo., (26)141(3) 99(1) though with some errors in pagination. Sharp Second Impression, printed the same year as the first. Bound in contemporary polished brown calf with titles in gilt on leather spine label and decorations in compartments. Leather looks varnished with piece chipped from spine ends and wear to tips. Front joint cracked and rear hinge just starting to. Title page and early inscription torn and page repaired with partial loss of text stating the impression. Generally clean pages with a few early pages waterstained at the lower margins. Several pages with vertical streaks of blue ink though not affecting readability of text. Ownership signature on front end-paper. "By the author of the Whole Duty of Man...", who is presumed to be Allestree, (1619-81). Still a quite handsome collectable copy of a treatise on the proper conduct of women.
