Bust-length. From the studio of Fayer in Vienna.1 38 x 87 mm.

Signed in full and dated 1964 in blue ink. Verso addressed to Peter Kovács in Budapest.

Slightly worn and creased. Simionato spent most of her career at La Scala, performing the great bel canto roles from the French and Italian repertory. As a touring artist, she appeared regularly at Covent Garden, the New York Metropolitan, and the Chicago Lyric.

"Simionato's agile mezzo was secure throughout its wide range, with a personal and seductive timbre in its lower register. Among her recordings are notable accounts of Amneris and Azucena. She had an imposing stage presence, vivacious in comedy, dignified and moving in tragedy." Harold Rosenthal in Grove Dictionary of Opera.
