Bound in publisher's original blue cloth with titles stamped in orange gilt on front board and spine. Illustrations, including frontispiece by Henry Raleigh. This may be a first state binding without the illustration on the front board. Square, tight and clean throughout with just a touch of bumping to spine ends and a hint of wear at the tips, but barely. No foxing and little or no toning to page edges. Remarkably fresh, bright and well-preserved showing the dust-jacket (truncated) really did its job. Solid and quite uncommon, unclipped dust-jacket, ($2.00), has soiling, a couple of closed tears and a couple of tiny chips. Folds and crown have been reinforced with tape on the reverse so its shadow shows through in a couple of spots. But still complete and very attractive.
