This copy inscribed by author on ffep, "For Dr. Cromwell/ with every good wish/ Valaurez B. Spratlin/ Washington, D.C./ November 1, 1938." The recipient was Otelia Cromwell - professor, literary scholar, and first African American woman to receive a PhD. from Yale. . Good. Hardcover .
