A superb manuscript from this important and popular German physician and medical historian. Choulant would publish two books on the topics offered in these lectures: Lehrbuch der speciellen Pathologie .... (1831) and Anleitung zur ärztlichen Receptirkunst (1834). Both works were well received and remained of use throughout the nineteenth century. Hirsch also cites the praise Choulant received for his clear and sensible lectures that were the basis for his publications. The manuscript offered here contains extensive notes on the pathology and aetiology of disease with individual sections devoted to cures, diagnosis, and prescriptions. Hirsch II, 21-22.
