A fantastic association copy signed by Frances Hodgson Burnett, best-known for her children's classic novel, The Secret Garden, and inscribed on a preliminary blank, to "Mary Mapes Dodge from F.H.B." Dodge was an influential American children's author, best known for her novel Hans Brinker, or The Silver Skates.
Bound in publisher's original blue cloth stamped in gilt, a cloth color unrecorded in BAL 2051. Very Good with mottling to cloth, old price written in color pencil to verso of front free endpaper and pages toned. A fantastic association copy between two female titans of children's literature of the late 19th and early 20th-centuries. Not to mention, books signed by Burnett are scarce.
