Very good. 16mo (6 7/8" x 5 1/8"); 24pp; stiff pale green wrapper, front printed with title in a vignette picturing a girl reading a book, a boy with a hoop, and a globe; publisher's ad for "School, Classical, and Miscellaneous Books" on rear wrapper; wood engraved illustrations every page; light hand soiling, wrinkling, 1" split at foot of wrapper fold; very good. An introductory social or anthropology study of Asia for elementary aged readers. Cultures mentioned include the Tartars, the Chinese Empire, the inhabitants of Java and New Zealand, with mention and illustration of a Massacre Islander and the practice of tattooing (Māori's). Also mentioned is Asiatic Turkey. Much of the text is given to noting the differences in cultural practices in Asia with an emphasis on white American Christian beliefs.
