First US printing, octavo size, 873 pp. Sir Byrom Bramwell (1847-1931) was a noted British neurologist and medical lecturer, he was at one time President of both The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and London and knighted by King George V in 1924. While his specialty was diseases of the brain he wrote on several topics including the heart, Aphasia and diseases of the blood forming organs. His works on the brain have been cited in Garrison-Morton (n.b. Wiki).
___DESCRIPTION: Bound in full tan leather, black leather label with title and author in gold to the spine, vintage prior owner signature of Ansel T. Eagar to front free endpaper (he was an 1894 graduate of Stanford University Medical School); octavo size (approximately 9.25" by 6.25"), pagination [i-vii] viii-xvi, 1-783, 64 plates not in pagination, [i-x] ads.
___CONDITION: Overall very good. The hinges are sound, text block is square, the pages are very clean, and the only prior owner marking is noted above; both boards and spine have moderate soiling, top back joint beginning to crack (but board still solidly attached), the corners are slightly rubbed, slight loss of spine label not effecting text, 1/2" tears at the top guttar margin to front free endpaper, half-title and title pages with very small loss of paper, not affecting text.
