1938 · New York
by EVANS, Walker and Lincoln Kirstein
New York: The Museum of Modern Art, 1938. First edition. Hardcover. First printing of 5000 copies. Featuers an essay by Lincoln Kirstein. A powerful selection of Evans photographs, many of which were derived from his work for the FSA. This monograph was published for the first one man photography show at MOMA and it remains one of the most important and influential photobooks ever. A very good copy in black cloth boards that have some slight wear, some minor wear to the paper spine label, some internal foxing, and a previous owner's rubberstamp name to the front free endpaper and with the laid in errata slip. No dust jacket. (Parr & Badger v1, 114-115, Roth 98-99) Despite the flaws a nice copy of this classic.
