Short Biographical Sketches of Eminent Negro Men and Women in Europe and the United States, with Brief Extracts from their Writings and Public Utterances
- Yonkers: Gazette Press, 1910
A rare, noteworthy work by the African American journalist, historian, and civil rights activist John Edward Bruce. Bruce's uncompromising radicalism set him apart from his contemporaries; he advocated armed self defense (rather than pacifism) and a prototypical Pan-Africanist version of Black Power. Late in life he became a supporter of Marcus Garvey and a mentor to Hubert Harrison.
