This pamphlet was given to attendees of the 1930 Pulitzer winning play The Green Pastures, a production that portrayed episodes from the Old Testament set in African American life in the South during the Great Depression. New York: Gordon Baker Printing Corporation, 1930. 11" x 8" inches. 16 pages. The play was authored by Marc Connelly with music by Hall Johnson. The pamphlet has sections on analysis of the play's themes, biographies on major cast members and producers, endorsements, and more. The Green Pastures was one of the first major productions to take black religious thought seriously and was lauded by critics and audiences alike. Overall in very good condition.
