S. l.: Hall & Ruckel, 1891. First Edition. Near fine. First edition, No. 11 of First Series; 2 x 5; chromolithographed recto, text in black on verso; minor wear to edges; in near fine condition. A lovely book mark, part of a series of 12, it advertised Sozodont - a popular oral hygiene product from the mid-19th to the early-20th centuries, which touted cleaning the teeth and hardening the gums, going as far as using the discovery of X-rays in 1895 to claim the latter showed the teeth of those using Sozodont to be in perfect health. Its popularity gradually declined, partly because of dentists' statements that, in actuality, the high alcaline content of the product eventually destroyed teeth enamel.
