Contemporary full leather, old reback, black leather lettering label, gilt. Final advertising leaf present. Light wear to the hinges and edges and occasional soiling to the pages, but a very good copy.


Contemporary signature of Edw. Leroy. Extensive annotations, additions and corrections throughout in the same hand.


ESTC T66971. A second edition was printed in 1759.


The British Language was an ancestral Celtic tongue spoken across what is now England and Wales until the Roman invasion, when it vied with Latin. It survived until the Arthurian era and has largely become modern Welsh and Breton.
