Statesville, NC: American Psychiatrists for Neutrality on Abortion, [1991-92]. Original broadisde, with text and illustrations printed in black on white bond, measuring 8.5" x 11". Horizontal fold smoothed-out at center, else Near Fine. Broadside issued by the American Psychiatrists for Neutrality on Abortion (APNOA), highlighting the conflict within the mental health community (specifically the APA) over the abortion issue. The APNOA "was formed after APA's President Elissa Benedak invited Planned Parenthood's President Faye Wattleton to address the Convocation at APA's 1991 annual meeting in New Orleans. Co-chairs Patricia Wesley of Yale University School of Medicine and Audrey Michal, M.D. found that many psychiatrists did not know of their association's promotion of abortion. Moreover even many pro-abortion psychiatrists opposed the APA's taking sides on this complex moral issue" (Maloof, George E. "Religion at the American Psychiatric Association." The Linacre Quarterly Vol.61, No.2 (May, 1994), p.12).
