(ca 1864); 9 1/2 x 7 1/2; a few small, worn spots to margins, not affecting illustration; overall age-toning and darkening, mostly visible to verso and margins; a faint scratch to portrait; in good to very good condition.A scarce, Civil War-era, oval, hand-colored, steel-engraved portrait of President Abraham Lincoln - it depicts him in a bust-size pose below an eagle, surrounded by a starred border, the latter encircled in turn with an elaborate leaf motif. Below him is an image of the Washington Capitol, with soldiers conducting marching drills in front of it, and a facsimile of his signature.
