No place [Madison, Wisconsin ?], publshed by the artist, 1969. Original 1969 screenprint/ mixed media on thick paper measuring 38.5 inches by 28 inches depicting a defiant woman (quite likely the artist's first wife) with sword in hand. Pencil signed and dated lower right, titled lower left, number 22 of 35 copies.

William Weege (American, 1935 - 2020) got his start in the mid 1960's with posters promoting counterculture & and opposition to the Vietnam War which "appeared on the streets of San Francisco and soon covered the walls of every young hipster's pad" (~Wisconsin Visual Art Achievement Awards ).
His works are held by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Additionally, his art was exhibited at the World's Fair in Japan and the 7th International Biennial Exhibition in 1970, the Museum of Modern Art in 1970 and at the Whitney Museum in 1971. Wedge founded the Tandem Press at the University of Wisconsin in 1987. The press describes him as "a pillar in the printmaking and papermaking fields in the United States."
