DR. JOHN WARREN (1753-1815). Warren was a Massachusetts surgeon who was a doctor for the Continental Army and founding professor of the Harvard Medical School. He was the younger brother of the better-known American Revolutionary Dr. Joseph Warren.DS. 1pg. June 9, 1812. Boston, Massachusetts. A partially-printed document signed John Warren as President of the Massachusetts Humane Society and engrossed in another hand. This document admits a new member to the Humane Society; it was also signed by the groups secretary: Humane Society Instituted 1785 To all Persons to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting. The Trustees of the Humane Society (incorporated (truncated) by a Law of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, passed in the year of our Lord 1791;) at a Meeting held in Boston, on the ninth Day of June one thousand eight hundred and twelve admitted Elisha Clap A:M: a [obscured] Society granting him all the rights of privileges thereunto belonging.
