Leominster, Massachusetts: W.S. Reed Toy Company, 1890. Very good to fine. Minor dust soiling, rubbing. Internal ribbon frayed.. The original "World's Educator" trivia game for children and adults, manufactured by W.S. Reed Toy Co., featuring fine chromolithography. Originally patented in 1887, the game was re-released in 1919 by the same company, with different illustrations. To play, one must use the teetotum spinner inside to decode an answer to a trivia question on the card. This copy consists of the original chromolithographed box (6.75" by 15.75" by 1.75"), with teetotum and ribbon marker inside, along with ten large question and answer playing cards (each 6.25" by 13.5"). Cards were issued by toy or stationary dealers by the dozen, and issued on the first of every month. There is no known full set of cards surviving; the most complete set resides at the New-York Historical Society Museum (32 cards, Liman Collection object no. 2000.269).
