Small 8vo oblong (7 13/16" x 10 ¼"); [12]pp, 6 pop-ups; glazed color pictorial boards; color illustrated throughout; light red Czech tax stamp on rear pastedown; old minor glue drip from front paste down with some small paper loss on left side of pop-up edges; near fine. Bright, colorful illustrations, title on front board and text in Arabic. Kubašta presents this version of Cinderella as sweet and glamorous.

Vojtěch Kubašta (1914-1992) was a paper engineer and artist who was born in Vienna but moved with his family to Prague in 1918. Educated as an architect and civil engineer, his love was illustration and book design. Under Communism the publishing industry was nationalized and Kubašta found work in advertising Czech products abroad. Artia, the Prague-based Czech national publishing company, published Little Red Riding Hood, his first pop-up children's book in 1956.
