Scarce item with only nine copies of either the first (1943) or second (1944) editions recorded on OCLC and only three in the U.S. A photographic souvenir booklet promoting the construction of the Alaska Highway which connected Washington state to Alaska through the Canadian wilderness. The necessity for this highway was accentuated when the Japanese attacked Pearle Harbor giving priority to this building project for the military. The views are captioned a show the stages of the highways construction. It was commenced on March 19, 1942 and completed November 20, 1942 and was an engineering feat through the mountains, across rivers and many other natural obstacles. Very good. 40150.
