Oblong envelope with 10 photographic cards (4 3/4 x 7 1/ inches). Rare set of souvenir photographic cards of Washington, DC about 1915. The American Sight-Seeing Car and Coach Company produced many sets of these types souvenir pictures for New York, Los Angeles, Denver, Boston, and even Salt La City that are recorded on OCLC, but none for Washington. The company made photomechanical reproductions of Washington, with accompanying text on the reverse. The Washington set includes the Library of Congress, The Capitol, Smithsonian Institution, Washington Munument, Treasury Department, State, War and Navy Department (now known as the Old Executive Building), The Soldiers Home, etc. They are enclosed on an illustrated envelope: "Compliments of American Sight-Seeing Car and Coach Co." with picture of a large group of wom being driven around in a tour bus. 40259.
