The preface, pp. [iii]-iv, mentions the "sedendary life" of the author, "caused by an affliction of some years' standing", and notes that the work is designed for "the entertainment of the young". One other title can be attributed to the same (anonymous) author, Mortimer Delmar and Highfield Tower, by the author of 'Conrad Blessington' (3 vols., London, 1838).
