Scarce, anonymous appeal by Mexican citizens to President Anastacio Bustamante to halt the ongoing depredations of Texans and freemasons in the borderlands in 1837. After a lengthy opening section that laments the low state of the Mexican nation, government, and people, the writer demands that the president and government stop sitting on their hands and respond to the threats facing the country:

"¿Que respondera V.E. a la Patria? ¿Que respondera a Dios? Que a su coniencia, cuando ya habiendo servido a ese puñado de malvados dieren de mano a V.E., y desde el suplicio que le preparan, desde el calabozo a que le reduscan, vea V.E. y sepa que ya los Tejanos avanzan sobre nuestro territorio: que alguna otra potencia nos amaga; que ya los Yorquinos se distribuyen los bienes de las Iglesias; que ya expelen a los Obispos; que ya establecen la tolerancia.... ¡Dios Santo! ¡Que remordimientos tan tristes devoraran esa pobre conciencia!"
