[Cali: 26 de Mayo, 1863. Very good.. Small broadside, 8 x 5.75 inches. Scattered foxing; light toning. This broadside announces the exile of the Franciscans from Cali and the Republic of Colombia for their failure to comply with new laws concerning taxes on religious orders. Interestingly, this is signed by the Guardian of the Franciscans himself, Rafael Ortiz, who urges the citizens of Cali to pray for the order and to fend for themselves under a vain, perfidious, and deceitful government.
