The author's third novel, a political satire about college professor who attempts to overthrow the corrupt city government political machine. A writer and editor known for his sharp wit, De Vries (1910-93) joined the staff of The New Yorker magazine at the insistence of James Thurber and worked there from 1944 to 1987, writing stories and touching up cartoon captions. Octavo. Original black cloth binding, with red titles. Minor bump to the spine head, with some mild edgewear to the dust jacket; otherwise very good.
