Ocean Grove; Photo-Gravures
- New York: Adolph Wittemann, 1895
New York: Adolph Wittemann, 1895. Oblong 12mo. 12 leaves, similar in size but different from the copy by the same publisher at Columbia University. That copy was also a photomechanical reproduction but had different images. The community had become the center for Methodist who wanted a religious resort. In 1894 Lillagore built a huge auditorium seating 10,000 who filled it in 1895 when The Messiah was performed. Among the unique images are those of those along the beach viewing the two yachts "The Sunshine" and "The Defiance", Lillagore's Pavillion, the model of Jerusalem, the New Auditorium, also Fletcher Lake and the Kent Residence. Very scarce with images that are not found in the other Wittemann printing. string bound in blue stiff paper wraps lettered in silver, 2 strings missing, one partially missing. A very good copy.
