To quote The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a towel, of course, "is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have," as Adams maintains a hitchhiker who knows where their towel is likely has come prepared with an assortment of other items, such as a toothbrush, and therefore is in control of their situation. Fans of Adams celebrate Towel Day every May 25th, paying tribute to the author by carrying around a towel. A stunning copy of the sequel to Hitchhiker's Guide. Scarcely found signed.
