A striking series of early lithographs by Kaus, from the immediate post-war period. Kaus initially learned lithographic technique from Ernst Heckel, with whom he improvised a wartime printing press out of salvaged wood from destroyed railway station paneling (Walde); in 1918 and following, Kaus continued to produce prints and painting along Expressionist lines to a mixed reception from contemporary critics and the continuing interest of later generations.
