1848. The book is in good condition, with the binding rubbing the spine. Approximately 150 pp. 90 pages have been used for autographs and remarks by Bowdoin students. There is also an attractive printed view of the college lithographed by Lane & Scott of Boston and published by J. Griffin. The future General Joshua Chamberlain signed and wrote a note to Morton in July of 1848 when he was a freshman. Chamberlain has become one of the best-known Civil War Generals for his heroics at the battle of Gettysburg where he led the 20th Maine Regiment and received the Medal of Honor. He was also Governor and President of Bowdoin College.
