Smith was the long-time pastor of the First Parish church in what is now Portland, Maine, from 1727 until 1784. He became quite wealthy and owned slaves, and he profited financially from money obtained by bounties on the scalps of Wabanaki people in the 1740s. Evans: 12229 and ESTC W26866. 18 copies in libraries. Lefkowitz listed a copy for sale in 1978; otherwise, it is scarce.
