Collection of photographs, ephemera, and pamphlets related to Old Abe the mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Regiment during the Civil War

A Small collection related to the Wisconsin war eagle old Abe who was captured as a chick in Northern Wisconsin in 1861 and was the mascot of the 8th Wiscon regiment. After the war he was exhibited widely and was much revered. He survived a fire in the Wisconsin State house in 1881 but declined from smoke inhalation and died on March 26, 1881.
