Cilley, a Congressman from Maine was killed in a duel. He studied law in Ruggles office, Ruggles was a politician who served in the U.S. Senate. Ruggles and Cilley had a falling out and his bill to the estate caused some controversy. Some had suggested that Ruggles had forged documents.
