Four-page legal document from John Ruggles to the Estate of Jonathan Cilley regarding what the estate owed Ruggles

Document is dated Nov. 17, 1838. Among the items are a fee for instructing in Legal Studies, 7 vols. MA Reports, 2 Vols. Maine Law and 1 Vol. Powell on Evidence. Cilley, a Congressman from Maine was killed in a duel. He studied law in Ruggles office, Ruggles was a politician who served in the U.S. Senate. Ruggles and Cilley had a falling out and his bill to the estate caused some controversy. Some had suggested that Ruggles had forged documents.
