East Cambridge, MA: Viscol Company, 1914. First Edition. Very good. Tri-fold brochure; 6 1/4 x 3 1/4 folded; illustrated with monochrome images; mild wear to edges and a tiny nick to top of one of the folds; in very good condition.A sweet advertising piece, it extolled the virtues of Artgum - an eraser for cleaning paper, gloves, hats, slippers, wallpaper, and...for massaging the face. It was created by German-American professor and inventor Adolph Sommer, who also patented Viscol - a product used for waterproofing. Sommer would be shot dead in 1933 in a robbery, while returning from the bank with a $1,033 payroll.
