Bound in publishers' wraps with dust jackets. Near Fine in Very Good dust jackets with some edge wear, a few small dampstains and a pen mark to spine panels. Quite rare signed.
Spanish author Arturo Barea's acclaimed memoir of the Spanish Civil War. It was published first in English translated by his wife Ilsa from 1941 to 1946. Publication in the original Spanish was delayed (in Spain by the continued rule of Franco) until the Argentinian publisher Editorial Losada issued this edition in 1951. Barea's prose has been compared to fiction writers like Ramon Sender and Pio Baroja. This is his best-known work.
