Wrappers slightly worn. Minor internal wear and browning; corners slightly creased. First Edition of the composer's arrangement for voice and piano of his cantata originally written for solo voices, chorus, strings, and percussion, first performed in Paris in 1945.
A Russian-born composer, pianist, and conductor, Tcherepnin became an American citizen in 1958. "[His] music is marked by several personal compositional techniques, discussed in Basic Elements of My Musical Language which he wrote in New York in 1962 but which has remained unpublished. ... [He] clearly belongs to the Russian tradition, though he also considered himself a 'Eurasian' composer. Conciseness, contrapuntal textures, and strongly articulated structures are typical of his works.
