Quarto (10.75" x 9"); 192pp. Photo-illustrated dust jacket over dark green cloth with black stamped lettering. Jacket is clean and crisp with no chips, tears, or marks. Boards are sturdy and square. Binding is sound and pages unmarked.

Galassi's letter, hand-written on 8.5" x 5.5" MoMA letterhead and apparently initially accompanying an unbound proof copy and transferred to (truncated) the bound one when it became available later, reads: "11 June 1996 / Dear Bill Safire -- We won't have bound copies until shortly before the exhibition opens, but I thought you might want to see the book in this form. I really can't thank you enough for your contribution to the book, but I look forward to trying the next time I see you -- perhaps at the breakfast preview of the exhibition on Wednesday, June 16, 8:00 to 11:00 A.M.
