Presentation Copy, inscribed to Ricord on the half-title: "A Monsieur le docteur Ricord [illeg.] . . . hommage de son bien affection[nné] Bonnafont" (inscription trimmed).

Second edition, revised and expanded; first published in 1860. Bonnafont is best known for inventing the otoscope, producing his first model in 1834; this pioneering achievement went unrecognized for many years. His Traité summarizes the knowledge gained during over three decades of treating diseases of the ear.
