Masson, 1886. 240 x 153 mm. 19th-century quarter morocco, marbled boards, spine worn and chipped, hinges splitting. Light toning but very good. Presentation Copy, inscribed to Ricord on the half-title: "A Monsieur le Docteur Ricord Membre de l'Académie de Méd[ecine] Hommage respectueux de l'auteur A. Brodeur 57 Union Ave Montréal Canad[a]" (inscription trimmed).

First Edition. Brodeur, a native of Quebec, received his medical education in France, obtaining his doctorate in medicine with the present work on kidney surgery. He was the second French Canadian to receive his M.D. in Paris, and the first from that region to hold the position of House Surgeon of the Hospitals of Paris.
