(The Ashley Books on The New Social Science for Secondary Schools) Series (B&W photographs, facsimiles INSCRIBED on the front endpaper -- "Charles King / with the compliments / of the author / Pasadena, / October 7, 1934" -- and SIGNED by the author on the title page. Originally published in 1917, a revised edition was issued in 1921 and this "new and revised edition" in 1925. The author (1872-1965) was chairman of the Pasadena High School and Junior College Social Science Department from 1905 to 1939, and served as the first president of the Southern California Social Science Association, which was organized in 1912.
