Inscribed on a preliminary blank by Hodding Carter, the publisher. Laid in is a typed letter on Delta Democrat letterhead signed by Hodding Carter thanking the recipients for their visit. Also laid in is a contemporary clipping of a book review of this title.
The first book published by the Levee Press. It is also the first printing of this story which was later incorporated into her "Golden Apples", 1949. The Levee Press continued publishing works by Mississippi authors until 1951 when its owners were all caught up with more pressing involvements.
