Paris: Georges Chamerot (Pour les Amis du Livre), 1890. Limited First Edition. Full Morocco. Near Fine. No. 109 of 125 limitation. Original wraps bound in. Charming color illustrations of the colorful habitues of the Paris streets -- of those who ply their trade on the streets -- merchants, food vendors, dog walkers, etc. etc. Many of these might be living in the margins of society, but they have an outsized role in the theatre that is the city street and in providing a soul to the city. A genre of color plate book popular in the early 19th century that Vidal updated and made his own. 8vo. 24 by 18 cm. 132 pp. 30 hand-colored plates. Plates, though printed, look as if they were original watercolors. The full morocco binding, with Art Nouveau ornamentation, was done by a G. Champs. Its beauty is commensurate with the book's contents. A beautiful, clean copy.
