London: Seeley and Co, 1895. 12mo. 183 pages, 8 unnumbered leaves of lovely Greek plates with tissue guards not usually found in smaller books. Church was the classics scholar. He explains the book was written for younger scholars who need to grasp the key ideas of Homer and Vergil before beginning their advanced work in Greek and Latin. This volume was given as a Latin prize, Class II to R.H. Muir in July 1895. A very nice little copy bound in full brown polished calf double ruled in gilt, raised bands with compartments fully gilt decorated, dark brown morocco spine label gilt, marbled endpapers and all edges marbled.
