Bound in publisher's original dark blue cloth with spine lettered in gilt and top edge stained fuchsia. Near Fine with slight lean to binding, fading to cloth at spine ends, a few spots to the fore edge and contents tanned. In a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with toning to the spine, light wear at the extremities including a scrape to the front flap fold and faint vertical creasing to the front panel.
An early example of lesbian literature, with explicit depiction of homosexuality between women. A modernist novel with gothic prose, it was praised by T.S. Eliot, who wrote the introduction which was first published in this edition. Scarce in jacket.
