Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. A small correspondence from Philip Caputo, the author of *A Rumor of War* to his friend and financial adviser Gerald Weiner and Weiner’s wife Barbara. The collection consists of two Autograph Letters Signed, one Typed Letter Signed, two Typed Poems Signed, and three pages of photomechanically reproduced financial information. Old folds as mailed, but mostly fine with original envelopes.
1. ALS. Four pages. In the first letter Caputo writes insightfully and in detail of the Arab-Isreali October War and the oil shortage.
2. ALS. Three pages. In the second letter Caputo writes in detail about his financial situation upon the publication of his first book, *A Rumor of War*.
3. TLS. One page. The third letter concerns itself with further details of Caputo's finances, with which he encloses the three pages of Xeroxed financial calculations.
4. Typed Manuscript Signed. The first poetry typescript is about Vietnam, entitled *The Walking Dead: Infantry column during the monsoon, DaNang, 1965*.
5. Typed Manuscript Signed. The second poetry typescript, also about Vietnam, is entitled *The Veterans*. The two poetry typescripts were housed in an unmailed envelope, hand-labeled "Rare Caputo Poems*.
Accompanied by detailed transcripts of the correspondence.
