1915. Very Good. Oil portrait on canvas. 14” x 18”. Re-stretched over modern canvas and mounted within a modern wood frame measuring about (17” x 21”). Light crazing, significant professional repair to right edge where the original canvas had deteriorated, not affecting the image, very good. An accomplished contemporary portrait of sculptor and landscape painter Katharine Beecher Stetson. Born in 1885 at Providence, Rhode Island, Katherine was the only daughter of feminist and writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman, author of *The Yellow Wallpaper*, and artist Charles W. Stetson. She first studied in Italy beginning in 1902 and at the Pennsylvania Academy of (truncated)
