Light soiling to the reverse. William Gunnison Chamberlain (1815-1910) was one of the most prominent Colorado photographers of the late nineteenth century. According to Carl Mautz in Biographies of Western Photographers (Expanded and Revised Edition), Chamberlain learned to make daguerreotypes in Peru. He visited the California gold regions in the 1850s, before settling in Chicago and establishing a daguerreotype gallery. After leaving Chicago, he was active in Denver between (truncated)
