N.p, 1950s. Original 117 page shooting script for an unproduced film entitled Furia by Philip Yordan. Laid in are two typed letters signed from a film producer expressing interest in developing the script for production, one dated December 13, 1954 and the other March 3, 1955. Bradbound. Occasional minor alterations in an unknown hand to the script. Very good copy with some edge wear and slight spotting to the covers. The film tells the story of a family of ranchers in Mexico and a beautiful and powerful stallion named Furia. Philip Yordan (1914 - 2003) was a successful screenwriter best known for his dynamic dramas. Some of his films include The Chase, Whistle Stop, House of Strangers, Broken Lance, The Harder They Fall, The Bravados, and God's Little Acre. He was among the large group of blacklisted Hollywood writers during the turbulent McCarthy era, and contributed to the screenplays of such classic films as King of Kings, El Cid, The Fall of the Roman Empire, and Circus World. He won an Academy Award for Best Writing, Motion Picture Story for Broken Lance (1954), which was a remake, reset in the West, of his earlier film House of Strangers. He received several Oscar nominations, including Best Writing, Original Screenplay for Dillinger (1945) and for Best Writing, Screenplay for Detective Story (1951), for which he also won an Edgar Award for Best Motion Picture Screenplay (along with co-writer Robert Wyler, and Sidney Kingsley, the author of the original stage play).
