Bound in blue cloth over boards, with color pictorial label of a hedgehog to upper board, bordered in red, to upper board, lettered in gilt, red, and black to upper board and spine, with vine decorations in green to both. Mild wear to binding, with gentle bumping to extremities, faint staining to cloth, and faint dampstain to rear board. Hinges tender, with hint of spine at several pages, reinforced with archival adhesive throughout. Folded color plate of "The 'Boy's Own' Plate of Caterpillars and Chrysalides of British Butterflies and Moths" shows one neat tear at fold. Illustrated in color frontispiece, 2 large fold-out color plates, and 162 original illustrations from photographs.
