Near fine in blue cloth covered boards with gilt text on a blue title background on the spine and with a gilt decoration of a sailing ship on the front board. An octavo of 8 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches. In a very good+ price clipped dust jacket with light rubbing and wear to the ends of the spine area with no chips or tears. Morison won a Pulitzer Prize for biography for this title in 1959. 453 pages including an index, bibliography, appendices, text. Illustrated with a frontispiece image of Jones' bust from a photograph and with 15 plates with images from contemporary works of art and from photographs (truncated) as well as maps and charts.
