Six pages printed in black with reading and vocabulary lessons. Otherwise, illustrated in color. Some dustsoiling and chipping to wrappers and some foxing throughout. A good copy of a fragile item. Contains eleven lessons that teach children the alphabet and simple vocabulary words. The Civil War appears thematically in the present work, which includes depictions of children dressed as soldiers and an illustration of a soldier paired with the following verse: "U stands for our Union, O long may it stand / V is for Volunteer, with his gun in his hand."
